Backflow testing cost · BC

Pricing without the small-print surprise.

A useful quote shows the field test, reporting path, City fee and repair approval separately. That is how you compare real scope, not just the lowest number in a search result.

What changes the total

Four inputs. No mystery.

There is no responsible way to promise one universal rate for every backflow test in the Fraser Valley. These are the inputs that matter.

01

Assemblies

Number, type, size and whether each device is registered as a separate municipal record.

02

Access

Mechanical rooms, pits, rooftops, tenants, alarm coordination and water shutdown restrictions.

03

Reporting

City portal or form, property account details, permits and any municipality submission fee.

04

Result

A routine pass, approved repair plus retest, or replacement with a new device record.

What a complete quote should say

Field testHow many assemblies and which device types are included.
ReportWho prepares and submits it, and what information the owner provides.
City feeIncluded, excluded or paid directly through the municipality’s process.
Failed resultHow repair is approved, priced and retested before extra work begins.

Multi-device properties

One address can have several tests.

Commercial, strata, irrigation and fire protection systems may each have a separate assembly. Detector configurations can also contain mainline and bypass devices that are recorded individually. Send the notice and a photo of every tag so the quote reflects the actual assembly count.

For a portfolio, group the properties by municipality, address, device count and site contact. That creates a defensible annual budget and removes repeat administrative work.

Backflow testing price questions

How much does backflow testing cost in BC?

The total depends on the device count and type, access, travel, municipal reporting process and whether repair or retesting is needed. A trustworthy quote should state what is included rather than relying on a headline rate.

Is the municipal filing fee included?

It depends on the municipality and provider. Surrey, for example, has a payment step for passing portal submissions. Ask for the quote to identify any City fee separately or state that it is included.

Do multiple devices cost the same as one?

No. Each testable assembly has its own field procedure and report record, but devices at the same accessible address may be quoted more efficiently than separate visits.

What if the device fails?

Routine testing and repair are different scopes. The failure should be explained, repair or replacement priced, and the assembly retested after the approved work.

Why is there no flat public rate here?

A flat number can be misleading before the assembly count, municipality, access and reporting fee are known. The quote is built from those details so owners can compare like with like.
